CALENDRIER DE LA MODE

The EMILcouture "Calendrier De La Mode" project pays homage to the 1945 traveling exhibition "Theatre De La Mode", which featured two hundred small fashion mannequins, all dressed by top Parisian couturiers.

Following an 18th century custom of presenting fashion creations to the world on petite dolls, couture designers such as Balenciaga, Jacques Fath, Elsa Schiaparelli and Nina Ricci's son worked together to re-establish Paris as the center of fashion after the second World War.

These legendary fashion designers created miniature clothing for small scale mannequins, Cartier and Van Cleef&Arpels produced jewelry, and artists built tiny stage sets for the fashion collections.

The exhibition opened at the Louvre Museum in Paris and was enormously popular, drawing in 100,000+ visitors. Later the couture fashion dolls travelled to Barcelona, London, Leeds, Copenhagen, Vienna, New York and San Francisco.

The following EMILcouture calendar collections are inspired by this unique undertaking in fashion history with twelve looks each representing every month of the year.

Enjoy!
